Mr. Aaron Paul Alaska Strickland, Sr., age 89, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016. He was born June 1, 1926, in Walton County, Florida, to Franklin and Jeanie Blankenship Strickland. He went by the nickname of "Pewee" with some of his friends later in life.

Mr. Strickland was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Navy, with time stationed in the Philippines. He worked with Civil Service for over 30 years as an Equipment Operator.

Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his father and mother, Franklin and Jeanie Blankenship Strickland; his first wife, Luetta Ealum Strickland; his second wife, Nettie Strickland; five brothers, F.A. Strickland,Jr., Silas Strickland, Mixon Strickland, David Strickland, and Arnold Strickland; four sisters, Lurie Mae Radford, Ruby Jones, Eloise Farmer Simmons, and Julia Vaughn; and one grandson, Joey Lee Strickland.

Mr. Strickland is survived by one son, three daughters, eight grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

Visitation: 10:00~11:00am, Friday, February 12, 2016, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church; 1015 Pleasant Ridge Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral: 11:00am, Friday, February 12, 2016, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with Reverend Mahlon LeCroix officiating.

Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
