Mr. Don Neal Spidel, 73, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at residence.
Mr. Spidel was born July 30, 1938, in Sheridan, the son of John Norris Spidel III, and the now late Marjorie A. (Neal) Spidel. He resided in Mechanicsburg, and graduated in 1956 from Jackson Township High School in Clinton County.
He married Jacque Sue Martin on Aug. 3, 1957, in Martinsville. Mrs. Spidel survives.
Mr. Spidel was employed by Central Vending in Lebanon for 30 years. The firm was purchased by Bertsch Vending, and he retired from there in 1999. In retirement, he and his wife would travel together in his capacity as a special courier for Luck Express of Remington. His deliveries would take the couple all over the U.S. on a moment's notice, and their bags were always packed and ready to respond to the company's call.
As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed his family, taking pride in his children and grandchildren. In addition, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the activities of his family. He was active in helping to coach and mentor all of their activities including baseball, basketball and football. He was also interested the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, and was a "Yellow Shirt" in the safety patrol for 25 years.
Mr. Spidel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
Survivors include his wife, Jacque S. Spidel of Lebanon; four children, Rick A. (Debby) Spidel of Lebanon, William J. (Helen) Spidel of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Michael G. (Tammy) Spidel and Donna S. (Robert II) Ross, all of Lebanon; father, John N. Spidel III of Lebanon; one sister, Sue (Joe) Rogers of Frankfort. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
