Hays -- Herbert V. Weigel, 77, died April 15, 1988, at St. Anthony Hospital, Hays. Born May 27, 1910, in Emmeram, he married Martina Leiker May 23, 1933, in Hays.

He was a retired self-employed carpet layer and a longtime Hays resident. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.

Survivors: wife, of the home; son, Herbert Jr., Hutchinson; daughters, Susie Ruder, Hays, Mary Ann DeBey Taylor, Granby, Colo., Sheila Rohl, Madera, Calif.; brother, Elmer, Portland, Ore.; sisters, Esther Meier, Georgine Schulte and Albina Koerner, all of Hays, Abbie Wratten and Helen Martes, both of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Fathers Timothy Gottschalk and Vincent Rohr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel.

Memorials may go to the Alzheimer's Disease Support Group, Hays.
