Hays -- Esther C. Meier, 76, Hays, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at Hays Medical Center. Mrs. Meier was born Esther C. Weigel on Feb. 15, 1922, at Emmeram.

She was the owner and operator of Genesis 1:29 Health Food Store, a homemaker, a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and former president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Hays.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Stanley and Clayton.

Survivors include her husband, Joe of the home; two sons, Joe Jr. of Bakersfield, Calif., and Randy of Salina; three daughters, Kathy Brown of Colby, Teresa Goetz of Hays and Mary Podlena of Kanoplis; four sisters, Albertine Rattan and Helen Martes, both of Portland, Ore., Albina Koerner and Georgine Schulte, both of Hays; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays, the Rev. Don Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays. A parish vigil will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to TMP-Marian High School. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine Street, Hays 67601.
