Mr. Rolen was one of twelve children born to Henry Louis Rolen and Lucinda Elender Jones, who married June 18, 1857 in Selma, AL. He was a retired farmer, who formerly resided in the Hudson Community.

He was survived by his wife, Frances Jane Emmons Rolen of Ft. Necessity; five sons, Samuel Solomon "Sam" Rolen of Winnfield, Henry Shedrick Rolen of Ft. Necessity, James Robert "Rob" Rolen of Columbia, John Oscar Rolen of Many, and George Wilson Rolen of Morrow; four daughters, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Lee and Katie Aretha Warner, both of Columbia, Bertha Ann Marie Bratton of Clarks, and Mae Belle Buchan of Hudson; three brothers, Zachariah R. Rolen, Robert Jones "Bob" Rolen, and George Jackson Rolen; three sisters, Edna Aldora "Dora" Sikes, Anna Louise Allen, and Ida Lenorer Josephine Parker; and numerous grandchildren.
