His biological father was James BRITTON, as part of a brief relationship with his mother Catherine in Clay County, Ky. David was given BOWLING as last name to match household half siblings & mothers married name she maintained. To the families knowledge, he never made or received contact with the BRITTON family. He never sought to change his name. Biological mother was Catherine Wilson GRAY BOWLING with exact dates/burial location in Ky unconfirmed.
Growing up, his four half siblings with father known as John BOWLING were sisters America & Emily, brothers Taylor & John. He remained close to sister, Emily Bowling Rush as they both lived in the northern Ky area before she passed years before him. David & wife, Pearl lived in Laurel County after marriage and started a family while caring for his mother as she became elderly. After his mothers death, they moved to northern Kentucky where he would eventually work many years for the Federal Work Projects Administration before retiring.
