MRS. CRUMPACKER DEAD.
Mother of Illustrious Family Passes Away After Brief Illness.
Valparaiso, Ind., Dec. 11.--(Special)--The death of Mrs. Harriet Emmons Crumpacker at the age of 85 years, came as a shock to her many friends who did not suspect that her recent slight illness would result fatally.
Mrs. Crumpacker was in her usual good health until a few days ago when she was taken with a slight cold. Her condition grew gradually worse, until this morning when the doctor gave up all hopes for her recovery.
Mrs. Crumpacker died this afternoon at her home in Valparaiso. She is survived by six sons and a daughter. They are John W., Edward D., Daniel, Peter, Charley and Grant Crumpacker. The daughter is Mrs. I. L. Luther of Chicago. There was another daughter in the family, Mrs. Lida Lewis, who died a great many years ago.
Mrs. Crumpacker was the proud mother of one of the best known families in this portion of the state. She had six six sons, all of whom have been more than ordinarily successful. Conspicuous among which are Congressman E. D. Crumpacker and Peter Crumpacker, of Hammond, one of the best known lawyers in the state.
