Helen Knapp, 100, Jamestown, ND and formerly of Binford, Nd, was born December 8, 1905 in Binford, ND, the daughter of Hans and Anne (Kanten) Alm. She graduated from Binford High School and attended Valley City Teachers College and taught at a rural school near Binford.
She married Manfred Knapp in Polson, MT on January 8, 1931. They operated Knapp's Grocery in Binford from 1941 until Manfred's death in 1962. Helen continued to operate the store until she retired in 1973. In 1992, she moved to Jamestown to live with here son and grandson. She entered Central Dakota Village in October of 1997. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford, the Trinity Ladies Aid and Rebecca Lodge. She died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 in Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.
Helen is survived by her son, Richard (Brenda) Knapp, Jamestown, ND; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manfred; her parents, Hans and Anne; three brothers, Iver, Oscar, and Arthur; three sisters, Julia, Alice, and Ruby; and four siblings who died in childhood.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, 2006 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, ND. Interment is in Trinity Cemetery, Binford, ND
