Mr Hines died Tuesday morning at 3:15 o'clock at the residence after being critically illl 10 days. Mr Hines was a pioneer merchant of this city, having lived here more than 50 years.
He was born in Sampson County, NC, May 22, 1876, a son of the late William F Hines and Mrs Caroline Caldwell Hines, both of Sampson County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of Pettigrew Men's Bible class.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Annie Snead Hines of Florence; a daughter, Mrs John Linder of Columbia; two sons, Captain Manly S Hines, US Army Air Force, Drew Field, Tampa, Florida; Lieutenant jg John W Hines, US Navy Air Force, San Diego, Calif; two sisters, Mrs Charles Powell of Clinton, NC, and Mrs Harry Lee of Baltimore; two brothers, James Hines and Edwin K Hines of Clinton, NC, and two grandsons.
