Cary - John William Hines (Bill), age 93, born in Florence, SC, December 23, 1919, passed away March 5, 2013, in Cary, NC.

He was preceded in death by sister Mildred, brother Manley, and is survived by his wife of 68 years, Julia Reade Hines (Peggy), four children, John W. Hines Jr (Anne, H.), Thomas R. Hines (Inez, E.), Julia H. Mills (A. Scott), Robert M. Hines (Sharon S.)'; eight grandchildren John, David, Thomas, Andrew, Zachary, Geoffrey, Brian, Matthew and three great-grandchildren.

Following Florence High School graduation, Mr. Hines went to Washington, DC, first as a Congressional Page and later worked processing reconnaissance photos for the US Department of Agriculture. He then volunteered for WWII service becoming a US Navy Pilot in the South Pacific. At The University of Georgia, he earned an LL.B summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa Society membership. In 1948, Mr. Hines joined the FBI and was admitted to the U. S. Supreme Court Bar on March 18, 1963. After 29 years as an FBI Special Agent, he retired to Cary, NC. There, he enjoyed extensive golf throughout the Southeast and time with family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on March 9th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, 221 Union St., Cary. Arrangements are by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27511.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill's name to Hospice of Wake County and to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
