eacefully on January 12, 2021 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home due to complications of COVID 19. His graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Rocky Mount Cemetery, 1309 Highway 154, Ringgold, LA 71068.

Born in Elm Grove, Louisiana on February, 8, 1922 to Noel and Susie Franklin, he was one of nine siblings. He was a Graduate of Haughton High School and attended Centenary College.

Paul served in the military during WWII in the Pacific and Japan between 1943 and 1946. He was a First Sergeant and Radio Communications Specialist in the 33rd Division, 6th Army Field Artillery. He was proud of his service and was a life-long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 2018 he received The Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal from the Office of the Governor. Following his honorable discharge from military service he worked for thirty years as a Radio Technician for the City of Shreveport Police and Fire Departments. Following his retirement he then worked for ten years at Shreveport Communications.

Koran Baptist Church in Haughton, Louisiana meant a great deal to Paul and his wife, Margie. He served as a Deacon and member of various church committees. He was previously a Charter Member of Ford Park Baptist Church in Shreveport. Mr. Franklin is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Margie and son Phillip Franklin. Those who will cherish his memory forever are his two children, Paul D. Franklin (Barbara) and Ginger Hoffmann (Lamont), six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to give special to thanks to the devoted caregivers at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. It is requested that masks be worn at the service and social distancing observed.
