Joan was born to Theresa M. Meyer Hydo and Adam Hydo on October 24, 1931 in Grand Island, Nebraska. Joan was he 5th born child of Theresa and Adam. She had two older brothers, Francis and John and had two older sisters, Angeline and Mildred.

In 1932, when Joan was 1, her father Adam tragically passed away at the veterans' hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Joan's mother, Theresa, later remarried and gave birth to Joan's half-brother Clayton. Joan and her siblings grew up extremely poor but made the best of their situation.

Joan attended elementary and middle school in Grand island and later attended Grand Island High school. While attending high school, Joan met her future husband, James (Jim) Cram who also attended Grand Island High school. Jim graduated in 1947 and proposed to Joan in 1948. Joan graduated in 1949 and married Jim in September of that year.

Jim was drafted into the military shortly after their marriage and together the couple moved from state to state while Jim was in the service. Once Jim returned home from Korea in 1953 Joan and Jim had their first child, James Cram jr. A few years after the birth of their son Joan and Jim moved to Lakewood, Colorado where in 1957 they had their second child together, a son named Russell. Another few years later, Joan, Jim and their two sons moved to Rialto, California where Joan and Jim gave birth to their third and final son, Daniel in 1965. In 1966, the family moved back to their home in Colorado where they stayed and lived their lives.

As Joan and her husband raised their three children in Colorado, Joan began to work with the government and Jim worked as a union electrician. All three of their son's graduated from Lakewood High School and they all became union electrician's.

In 1996 Joan's youngest son, Daniel and his wife had their first child, Marissa, Joan's first grand child! Then in 1998, Daniel and his wife had their second and last child, Kaylee. Joan and Jim retired and stayed in their family home where they loved to have their grand daughters come and visit.

In 2007 Joan's husband Jim passed away and was buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Joan continued to live her elderly life with the love and support of her family and friends. Then, in December of 2012 Joan's son Russ tragically passed away from cancer, leaving Joan heartbroken. Joan remained strong, brave, loving and caring throughout all of her hardships.

In July of 2013 Joan was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, she remained in good spirits and stayed her home until the day she passed away.

Joan passed away on November 7, 2013 at the age of 82. She is survived by her sons James jr. and Daniel, Daniel's wife and their daughters(Joan's grand daughters) Marissa and Kaylee.

Joan was loved very much by all and was a truly inspirational woman.
