Robert F. Darner, 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Monday, December 2, 2013, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center, in Marshalltown.

Robert was born on February 28, 1922, the son of Charles and Hulda (Dumke) Darner in Hopkins, Minnesota. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1941.

Robert married Yvette B. Howard on December 25, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was employed with H & W Motor Express as a truck driver. Robert was a member of UAW Local Teamsters #147 in Des Moines and the Marshalltown Antique Car Club. He was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Robert enjoyed fishing, the casino, and watching both Hawkeye and Cyclone football.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Cyril) Stalzer of Laurel, and Debra (Mont) Smith of Gilman, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a sister, Shirley Hildebrand of Carson City, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvette; a grandson, Chad Smith; a granddaughter, Carmen Nuchels; two sisters, Fran Jones, and Joyce Aiken; and a brother, Loyd Darner.
