Loyd Marian Darner, a 65-year resident of California and 35-year resident of Yucca Valley, died at home on February 23, 2010. He was 93 years old.

The son of Charles Marian Darner and Hulda Dumke, he was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 12, 1916. He was married to Louise S. Darner for 65 years.

Mr. Darner was an associate engineer in the aeronautics industry for 29 years. Prior to that he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, during World War II, as a part of the 394th Bomb Group. He was an avid rock collector and a skilled craftsman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, who passed away in 2005.

Mr. Darner is survived by his sister, Shirley Hilderbrand of Carson City, Nevada; his brother, Robert Darner of Gilman, Iowa; and his nephew, Steve Hilderbrand of Laguna Nigel.

A memorial service will be held at noon March 14 at First Christian Church at 56284 Buena Vista Drive in Yucca Valley. Bob Alexander will officiate.

His final resting place will be Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.

Mortuary services were handled by Wiefels and Son of Yucca Valley.
