Carole Jeanne McCorkle, 68, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013.

Raised in Gibsonia, PA, Carole moved to Lynchburg in 1987. She co-owned Records Unlimited with her husband, Ronald McCorkle, Sr., and managed Celebrations Unlimited. She also worked for Old Country Buffet, and Acosta Merchandising. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and was the founder of the High Hopes stroke support group in Lynchburg.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald; sister, Janice Walker of Philipsburg,PA; brother, Thomas Hawkins, Jr. of Hermitage, PA; children, Lisa Priest of Pilot, VA; Ronald McCorkle, Jr. and Gary McCorkle of Roanoke; and Michael McCorkle of Lynch Station; grandchildren, Abbie and Katie Priest, Reanna Viliborghi, Shane and Jacob McCorkle; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara, and her brother, David.

Carole enjoyed having her family around. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, photography, cooking, and the beach. She was very generous with others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, September 23, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Holy Cross Catholic Church with Msgr. J. Kenneth Rush officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
