George F. McDowell, age 79, passed away at the Urbandale Care Center Saturday evening surrounded by his loving family. He had been a resident of the health center for more than three years. Interment in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
He was born in Chariton, IA to Stella (Routt) McDowell and Harry McDowell. He was a graduate of Drake University and worked as a CPA. He also served honorably in the US Army. He married Sue A. Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Johnston; son, Dan; and daughter Shari Hervey; and other family members.
