JANESVILLE - Miss Vina A. McArthur, age 97, of the Fairhaven Retirement Home, Whitewater, formerly of Janesville, died Tues., Jan. 19, 1993, at Fairhaven. She was born Feb. 18, 1895, in Bradford Township, to John and Edna (Akin) McArthur. She grew up and was educated in the Emerald Grove area and graduated from Janesville High School. She graduated from Stout Institute in 1919 with a degree in Home Economics. She completed her B.S. degree in 1929 and her M.A. in 1943. She taught in Linn Grove, IA, Poynette, Sheboygan and Milwaukee, where she retired from Solomon Juneau High School in 1960, after 41 years of teaching. She then returned to Janesville and later to Fairhaven in Whitewater. She was a 50-year member of O.E.S Janesville and a 32-year member of the D.A.R. She is survived by 7 nieces and nephews: Mrs. Joan (Paul) Thomas of Glenview, IL, Robert McArthur of Albuquerque, NM, Mary E. Church, Leonard C. Church, and Margaret Richter, all of Walworth, John McArthur of Sequim, WA, and Bradley McArthur of Rockford, IL; and many grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Fri., Jan. 22, at the Emerald Grove Church, U.C.C., with Rev. John Eyster officiating.
