In April 1941, Sally married Éamon de Valera, the son of Irish revolutionary and statesmen Éamon de Valera and his wife, Irish Nationalist and author Sinéad Ni Fhlannagáin de Valera.
Sally & Éamon de Valera made their home in Dublin. Near the end of the war, known in Ireland as the Emergency, they had 2 children; Éamon in 1944 & Máire in 1945.
