Lawson D. Vaughn, age 81, of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2004. He was a member of the Baptist Church and retired from the U. S. Marines and U. S. Navy. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Vaughn; sons: Ken (Ann) Vaughn of Lineville, Clarence (Wanda) Vaughn of Robinwood and Steve Vaughn of Robinwood; grandchildren: Kristin, Kevin and Michael; step grandchildren: Melinda, John and Jessica; brothers: James Richard Vaughn of Sorrento, LA, Tommy Joe Vaughn of Forestdale and Mack Vaughn of Bessemer; sisters: Verdie Lou Nance and Valley Mae Parrish both of FL. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel, with burial in Tidwell Cemetery in Allgood. His family received friends Friday evening at the funeral home. Ridout's Elmwood Chapel, 205-251-7227, is directing.
