Wayne Boone, 89, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, May 7, 2011. He was born March 29, 1922 in Higden, AR; to Edgar and Rose Boone. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served our country honorably during WW II. Wayne was a water well driller 1939-1968, a school bus contractor serving the Hatch Valley 1954-1996, he also painted houses and was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Boone's passion was for his family and his church. He will be forever missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Delories Boone of the family home; sons Mike Boone and wife Debbie of Las Cruces and Leland Boone and wife Louanne of El Paso, TX; grandchildren Craig and wife Karen, Ashley, Kelsey and his great-grandchildren Kelly, Melanie and Nathan.

Wayne was preceded in death by his two brothers, Eddie and Ray Boone [PFC Norby Ray Boone] who was killed in action during WW II and by a sister Mildred Davis. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 am on Friday May 13, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home where his funeral service to celebrate his life will follow at 10 am with Danny McKinney officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Shannon Yoder, Brad Bailey, Craig Boone, Larry Morrison, Ned Tutor and Ken Ragsdale.
