Phyllis Allgood Nef, 88, of Rexburg, passed away Wednesday November 20, 2013, in St. Anthony surrounded by family.

Phyllis was born March 6, 1925 to Arthur and Geneva Jensen Allgood in Hibbard, Idaho. When her parents divorced her family eventually moved to Rexburg to live with her grandmother Jensen. She loved her Grandma Jensen and told many loving stories of time spent with her. Her mother married Paul Neeley. Mom has said many times how grateful she is he came into their lives and she doesn't know what they would have done without him.

She attended Rexburg schools, graduating from Madison High School. She then rode the bus everyday to Beauty School in Idaho Falls where she earned her cosmetology license. She worked the next 10 years at Darlene's Beauty Shop. After her children were out of the home she worked 6 years at Artco.

Towards the end of the WWII Norman Nef was able to obtain a 3 day pass and came home to marry his high school sweetheart. They became eternal companions January 4, 1946 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They bought a home in Rexburg where they lived for 10 years eventually buying a small farm in Burton, where they built a home and raised their 4 children. Mom lived there until 6 months ago when she moved to Homestead in St. Anthony.

Norman bought a farm west of Idaho Falls. Mom worked hard helping dad all she could at the farm. Her husband, sons, daughters and grandchildren are grateful for the many lunches Mom fixed for them when working at the farm, she always had lots of food and a surprise inside the lunch box.

Phyllis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in all auxiliaries whether it was her home ward or at the College. She was serving as Relief Society President at the time of the Teton Dam Flood. She spent endless hours doing laundry, preparing meals, cleaning homes and serving those touched by the flood.

Phyllis loved gardening, her yard was full of flowers and she always had a large garden that she shared with her children. She had a garden until Norman passed away in April 2009.

She is survived by her children, David (Arlene), Idaho Falls, Brook, Boise, Julie (Wade Saurey), Rexburg, Lori (Brad Hill); 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way; her brother, Dean Algood, of Rigby; sister, Margie Thompson, of Rexburg; brother-in-law, Arnold (Leta) Nef, of Utah; and sisters-in-law, Belva (Lloyd) Garner, of Utah, Relda McGarry and Carol Nef, both of Rexburg, and Verna Nef, of Rigby.

Funeral services will be Monday November 25, at 11:00 in the Burton 1st Ward. Friends may call Sunday at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg 5:30-7:00 p.m. and from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Burton Cemetery.

The family would like to thank those at the Homestead who helped take care of Mom.
