Per his death certificate found on Ancestry.com: he was a son of Dr. Joseph Quattlebaum, born in Fairfield Co., S. C., and Lucy Merritt, born in S. C., and the widower of May Tindal Quattlebaum. He was a dentist. He resided at 2502 Devine St. and died at Columbia Hospital of acute hemolytic anemia cause undetermined. The informant was Mrs. Warren Holland of Columbia, S. C.

Found in The State 13 May 1949: Dr. Edwin G. Quattlebaum, prominent Columbia dentist, died at 7 o'clock last night at the Columbia hospital after a brief illness. Doctor Quattlebaum had practiced dentistry in Columbia for more than 55 years. Born March 5, 1864 in Fairfield county, the son of Dr. Joseph and Lucy Merritt Quattlebaum, he was graduated in 1886 from the University of South Carolina, then known as South Carolina college, and in 1891 completed his dental education at Philadelphia Dental college. He was a member of the American Dental association and the South Carolina Dental society, serving as president of the state, city and district groups and as vice president of the Southern Dental association. He was intensely interested in Christian work and had been active in the promotion of the Christian cause. In 1896 he married Miss May Tindal of Clarendon county. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Dr. Edwin G. Quattlebaum, Jr. of Rockford, Ill., and Dr. James T. Quattlebaum of Columbia; three daughters, Miss Lois Quattlebaum of Columbia, Mrs. Glenn W. Rainey of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Warren F. Holland of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. William Murphy of Kirksville, Mo., and nine grandchildren.
