Brian was the 4th of 7 children of Sinéad (Ni Fhlannagáin) & Éamon de Valera.
His earlier education was by the Holy Ghost Fathers at Blackrock College in Dublin. In 1936 Brian was furthering his education at University College Dublin, where he was pursuing studies as a mathematician. All the while, he was an avid, accomplished horseman.
Brian passed away at age 20 from injuries suffered in a riding accident at Phoenix Park in Dublin. His death was devastating to his family. His brother Terry de Valera has said about this time:
"Brian was a splendid horseman and riding was his pride and joy. For his part, I am sure he would have wished to die in no other way. The effect upon my parents was immense. Especially on my mother who had come through so much, and now must lose a son in this way".
✞ Brian de Valera is buried in his parent's de Valera family plot at Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin. Buried with him are his parents, brother Vivion & sister in-law Bride.
