Pearl was born in Ohio Aug 23, 1903,the last of four children, to Frank Edward Ford and Iva Hall, both Ohio natives. Pearl, Clarence, Helen (died young), Marguerite and Frank.
Their young lives were very hard, placed in one Orphanage
to another & another. But they survived to become wonderful adults.

1907 mother Iva fell down a flight of stairs and was hospitalized, father Frank could not care for the children so they were placed in "Denver Orphan's home". Pearl was sent to Steele Hospital June 9, 1907 was ill with Scarlet Fever. Frank and Marguerite were sent to Steele Hospital for Diptheria.

When mother was released from hospital the children were placed back in family home.

Mother Iva became terminally ill and moved to live with her parents, where she died Feb. 24, 1909 of Phthises Pulmanalis.

The children were then sent to "Denver Orphan's Home".

Pearl, Marguerite and young Frank were then admitted to "The Children's Home of Cincinnati" Ohio on July 1911. The record mentions that Clarence remained with his father in Denver. Mr. Ford had been the proprietor of the "Blind Tiger," a "cafe and pool house."

On August 18, 1911, the Juvenile Court committed the children to the "Home of Refuge" in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Pearl married: Marion Leander Kauffman Sept 23, 1924 in Ft Morgan, Morgan Co., Colorado. "too much trouble with the law!"

Pearl married: Oren Francis Warnstaff circa 1931 in Oregon. They remained married although separated until her death in 1940. "just didn't work!"

Pearl had it the hardest, I believe, Having had Scarlet Fever at age 4, a damaged heart that became increasingly worse. She was a quite, petite woman 4 foot 8 inches tall and weighing 85 pounds in 1937. Every where she went she carried a guitar. (It is unknown what happened to the guitar after her death). She was like a flower in the wind, unable to settle down in one place.

She died at the Oregon State Hospital For The Insane at the age of 35 from rheumatic heart disease. Her family were unable to claim her body, hard times, so the hospital cremated her, her ashes were stored for 74 years at Oregon State Hospital For the Insane, "Library of dust". Full name at time of death: (Pearl Isabell Kauffman Warnstaff), to family she is "Auntie Pearl Ford".

This beautiful lady is now at rest in Rainier Cemetery.
"ALWAYS LOVED AND MISSED."
