Olin Anderson Dies at Home Here

Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon for Olin Anderson, well-known Peterson resident who died at the age of 67 years. Mr. Anderson, who had suffered with cancer most of the summer, died at his home here Thursday night of last week.

Services were held at the Congregational church conducted by Rev. C.A. Hyde, local pastor, and Rev. F.E. Hamlin, of Denison, a friend of the family. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the services. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery here.

Clarence Olin Anderson, the son of Clarence and Bertha (Frame) Anderson, was born May 1, 1892 in Rockport, West Virginia, and passed into eternal rest at Peterson, Iowa, on August 13, 1959, at the age of 67 years, 2 months, and 14 days.

He had lived most of his life in this vicinity, having come here at the age of five years. He resided at Royal for about 16 years, and had been in the Peterson community since 1913. He was associated with the Batcheler Auto Company for 30 years. For about 16 years he was engaged in farming near Peterson. In December of 1958 he moved to town, and had been in failing health since that time.

He attended the schools near his boyhood home, both at Royal and in Ruthven. He was a member of the Congregational Church at Peterson. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge here. For many years he had been active in community affairs, and had served the public in many capacities. He was a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, had served in various offices of the church, was a member and active worker in the Farm Bureau, had been a member of the school board and served on the school committees, and in many other ways had worked for the general welfare of his fellow citizens.

He was united in marriage to Josephene Batcheler on April 21, 1916, the ceremony having been performed at Mount Joy Church near Ireton, Iowa. To them was born one son, Duane, who farms near Peterson.

Besides his wife and son and daughter-in-law, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Bertha Anderson, a sister, Mrs. Olive George, both of whom live at Walker, Minnesota, 3 grandchildren: Cheryl, Ricky, and Jon, other relatives and many friends.
