A Carbondale woman and a Murphysboro teen-ager were killed in a head-on collision on Old Illinois 13 early Sunday morning.
Dead are Joan Hays, 22, and Kelly Blake, 16. Reported in satisfactory condition Monday at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale was Mark A. Miller, 17, also of Murphysboro.
State police reported that Miller was driving a pickup truck westbound at 3:40 a.m. near Lake Chautauqua Road while Miss Hays was traveling eastbound. The collision occurred in the eastbound lane.
Miss Blake was a passenger in the Miller truck.
Miss Blake was a sophomore at Murphysboro Township High School, where she was a member of the Sub Juniors, the high school band, and was a cheerleader. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, Mo.
Miss Blake was born Sept. 3, 1962, in Anna, to Lee and Nita Tweedy Blake.
Survivors include her parents of Murphysboro; three brothers, Tom, Richard, and Randy, all at home; one sister, Robin, at home; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Tweedy of Murphysboro; and her paternal grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Blake of Murphysboro; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Murphysboro.
Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Crawshaw Mortuary in Murphysboro and from noon Tuesday until the time of the service at the church.
