MONTELLO/BLACK EARTH-Arlene M. Brassington, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, after an extended illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 20, 1927 in Cottage Grove, the daughter of Otto and Hattie (Schluter) Fredenberg. Arlene was united in marriage to Bud Brassington on April 20, 1947 at Hope Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove. After raising her family, Arlene went to work with Shopko and Madison Beauty Supply. She enjoyed fishing at their lakefront home in Montello and taking care of the flowers around her home. In addition to Bud, her husband of 66 years, Arlene is survived by her children, Richard (Dee) Brassington, Jane (Alan) Backus, Scott (special friend, Lisa) and Jody (Gary) Herbrand; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alvin Fredenberg. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave, Middleton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Burial will be in Middleton Junction Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home and also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
