Edwin Dale Nelson, the son of the late Nels and Eva (Willard) Nelson, was born on October 19, 1928, at Bagley, MN. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Alvarado – Oslo area and was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. On September 4, 1950, Eddie was united in marriage to Marciden Myszkowski at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Strandquist. The couple made their home there for many years where they owned and operated the former Family Grocery Store. Eddie also worked for Benson Construction of Stephen and Border States Paving of Fargo, ND, for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He was a long-time member of St. Edward's Catholic Church of Strandquist, now located at Karlstad, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. "Marcy" passed away Jan. 9, 2009, and Eddie resided first at Valley Home in Thief River Falls then in Aug. of 2009, moved to Pioneer Memorial Care Center at Erskine. He passed away there on Sat. evening, Nov. 2, 2013, at the age of 85 years and 13 days. He is survived by two sons: Hugh (Barb) Nelson, of Monticello, MN and Tim (Denise) Nelson, of Newfolden, MN; two daughters: Susan (Jim) Baker, of Falls City, NB and Pat (Ernie) Woinarowicz, of Middle River, MN; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother: Donald (Julie) Nelson, of Newfolden; one sister: Delores Westerlund, of Middle River; in addition to many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one son: Kevin in 2008, and two brothers: Kenneth and Arthur.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Thur. at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Karlstad. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Wed. with a 7 P.M. prayer service and again one hour prior to Mass Thur. morning, all at the church. Burial will be in St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery at Strandquist, MN.
