Irene Simmons, 85, of Atkins, died Thursday, November 11, 2010, at St. Marys Regional Medical Center. She was born September 2, 1925, in Brillant, Alabama, the daughter of John and Cannie Haney Estes. She was a member of the Atkins Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Simmons; one son, Charles Simmons; six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy and husband Jerry Virden, Debbie and husband Joe Canada, and Sandra and husband Jerry Bratton; sister, Pauline Oliver; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Clarence Holley, Lesley and husband Brent Payne, Tara and husband Harold Hollingsworth, Kelley and husband Daniel Wall, Jocelyn and husband Josh Schuermann, Rebecca McClure, Michael and wife Michelle Simmons, and Doug Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Alex Simmons, Brooke Payne, Katy Payne, Kobe Holley, Taylor Canada, Dayland Hollingsworth, Luke Wall, Lauren Wall, Aiden McClure, Connor McClure, Brandon McClure, Broc Schuermann, Caleb Kolb, Maggie McKay and Zack Owen.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 15, 2010, at Lemley Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Bishop and Rev. J.C. Kinder officiating. Burial will be at St. Joe Cemetery by Lemley Funeral of Atkins. Visitation is 2-4 PM Sunday.
Pallbearers are Clarence Holley, Brent Payne, Michael Simmons, Doug Simmons, Josh Schuermann and Harold Hollingsworth.
