Leborn Estes, 76, of Piggott died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at his residence.

He was born June 15, 1928, in Brilliant, Ala., the son of the late John and Cannie Haney Estes.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Mae Bratcher on Sept. 18, 1948. They had four children.

He was a United States Army Veteran from World War II. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Mr. Estes was also a member of the Greenway Church of Christ and an expert Crappie fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Mae Estes; five brothers, Leroy, John R., R.D., Leland and Robert; and one sister, Earnestine Anderson.

He is survived by three sons, Randall Gale Estes and wife, Susan, of Suffolk, Va., Lindell Ray Estes of Kirksville, Mo., and Garry Lynn Estes and wife, Terrie, of Troy, Mo.; one daughter, Patsy Mowery of Piggott; 11 grandchildren, Tammy, Stephanie, Randall Jr., Tracy, Lenny, Crystal Mae, Jason, Megan, Joshua, Timothy and John; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Simmons of Atkins, Ark., and Pauline Oliver and Dovie Oliver, both of Rector; and several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 14, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Topper Killough officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mr. Estes' grandsons, Timothy Mowery, Lenny Estes, John Mowery, Randall Estes Jr., Jason Estes and Billy Davis.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
