WOODLAND - Violet Marie Gisewhite, 66, of Spruce St., Woodland, died Friday, Dec. 29, 1995, at her residence.
Born Dec. 24, 1929, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of Nellie (Shirey) Gillingham of Clearfield and the late Joseph Gillingham.
Mrs. Gisewhite was a homemaker and had been employed at the Best Western Motor Inn, Clearfield.
She was affiliated with the Salvation Army and was a member of the Ladies Home League.
Surviving are her mother, of Clearfield; her husband, Elias Gisewhite Jr., whom she married on July 28, 1948; six children: Janet Smeal of Woodland, Judy Gillingham of Lucinda and Russell Gisewhite, John Gisewhite, Roger Gisewhite and Lisa Ricketts, all of Clearfield; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: Betty Conaway, Homer Gillingham, James Gillingham, Donald Gillingham and Richard Gillingham, all of Clearfield, Shirley M. May of Parker and Patricia Stancliff of Erie.
She was preceded in death by her father; one son, Elias Gisewhite III; one daughter, Norma Louise Gisewhite; one granddaughter, Holly Anne Smeal; and two brothers, Joseph W. and Benjamin Gillingham.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Congress Hill Cemetery, with Dr. Duane White officiate.
Interment will be in Congress Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Monday at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield.
