WOODLAND - Elias Gisewhite Jr., 89, of Spruce Street, Woodland died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at DuBois Regional Medical Center-East, DuBois.
Born June 6, 1927, in Osceola Mills, he was the son of the late Elias and Sophia (Koch) Gisewhite.
Mr. Gisewhite was a stonemason and had been employed as grounds keeper for the Best Western Motor Inn, Clearfield.
He attended the Clearfield Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and was a member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Association.
He is survived by six children, Janet Smeal and Roger, both of Woodland, Judy Gillingham, Russell, John an Lisa Ricketts, all of Clearfield; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are six sisters, Elma Hugar, Shirley Plante and Willomina Kula, all of Clearfield, Sophia Lanager of Hyde, Althea Grove of Osceola Mills and Elnora Daniels of Curwensville; and Donald of Sumerville, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Violet Marie (Gillingham) Gisewhite on Dec. 29, 1995; a son, Elias III; a daughter, Norma Louise Gisewhite; a granddaughter and three sisters, Eldia Hula, Martha Wright and Joan Ralston.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with the Dr. Duane White officiating.
Interment will be in Congress Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7-69 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the funeral home.
