PRESTON - Mildred Corbett Ashbaker Turner, 93, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born Nov. 9, 1911, in Smithfield, Utah, the daughter of William and Annie Peterson Corbett.

She married Lloyd W. (Pete) Ashbaker on April 21, 1934, in Logan, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple. They operated farms in Telluride and Turner, and Mildred taught school. Lloyd passed away in 1951. Mildred then married a longtime friend, Bryce Turner, in 1964.

She attended school in Turner and Grace, Idaho, and graduated from Grace High School. She attended college at Idaho State College, and received an associate's degree and teaching certificate. She later graduated from Idaho State University in 1957, with a bachelor's degree in education

Mildred was active in the LDS Church, serving in a variety of positions in Sunday school, Relief Society and music. Mildred was an excellent teacher and taught school in Turner, Telluride, Grace, Idaho Falls and Soda Springs. She enjoyed homemaking, her yard and garden, and her family.

She is survived by her son, Philip Neil (Karen) Ashbaker, of Preston; four stepdaughters, Beverly (Gary) Adair, Monticello, Utah, Patti (Charles) Stoddart, Helena, Mont., Judy (Richard) Beesley, Rexburg, Idaho, Tamara (Steve) White, Grace, Idaho; a brother, Dr. Glenn Corbett, Boulder, Colo.; 20 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Lloyd W. Ashbaker and Bryce Turner, a son, Craig L. Ashbaker, and eight siblings, William E. Corbett, Rae Allsop, Ethel Sorensen, Erma Corbett, Daniel Corbett, Bernice Titus, Florence Panter and Roy Corbett.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 25, 2005, in the Williams Ward Chapel, Niter, Idaho, with Bishop Craig Wilker conducting.

Interment will be in the Grace Cemetery.
