Glenn Wright Corbett M.D.
February 1, 1915 -- November 1, 2007
Glenn W. Corbett of Boulder, Colo., formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 1, 1915, in Grace, Idaho, to William and Annie Peterson Corbett. He graduated from Grace High School, completed a B.S. degree in pharmacology from Idaho State University, and received his medical education at University of Utah and Temple University in Philadelphia, graduating in 1942. He served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. From 1942 to 1944, he served an internship in medicine in Los Angeles and was then deployed to the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1944 to 1946.
He met his first wife, Geraldine Knoll, during his internship. They were married in Los Angeles on VJ Day, May 9, 1945. They had three children, Tricia Cecele, Michael Glenn and Susan Beth. Glenn practiced medicine at the Idaho Falls Clinic and was a well known and respected surgeon from l947 until his retirement in 1982. He shared his love of fishing, hunting, golf and especially aviation with his family and friends. Many wonderful family trips were taken in the private plane he owned. Glenn and his wife, Geraldine, moved to Boulder, Colo., in 1997. Following Geraldine's death, he married Helen Dorsey of Boulder in September of 2000, with whom he shared many happy years.
Glenn was preceded in death by his son, Michael Glenn Corbett, M.D., in January of 1985; his first wife, Geraldine Corbett, in March of 2000; his three brothers, William, Daniel and Roy; and his five sisters, Rae, Ethel, Bernice, Mildred and Florence.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Dorsey Corbett; two daughters, Tricia Corbett (Barnes) of Seattle, Wash., and Susan Corbett (Kremm) of Boulder, Colo.; his sons-in-law, Robert Barnes, M.D., and Steven Kremm; his daughter-in-law, Penny Westfall (Corbett) of Sacramento, Calif.; and six grandsons, Bryan Corbett, Alexander Barnes, Jordan Corbett, Brady Barnes, Mitchel Kremm and Samuel Kremm. He was a loving, loyal and generous husband and father, and a doting grandfather. We all will miss him dearly.
Glenn's family would like to extend our special thanks to the staff of Dignity Care for their competent and loving care over the last years of his life. He cared deeply for many of you, and as one of you said, "He charmed us all." We would also like to extend our grateful thanks to Family Hospice of Boulder. You brought ease of mind and invaluable care to Glenn and his family in his final journey.
At Dr. Corbett's request, no formal service will be held. Following cremation, burial will be in Grace, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Hospice of Boulder County, 595 Canyon Blvd., Boulder, CO 80302.
