The following obituary appeared in the "Patriot-News" (Harrisburg, PA) on October 24, 2013:

Jeanne G. Eckes, age 87, of Mechanicsburg and formally of Wallenpupack, PA passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at Messiah Village. Born November 16, 1925 in Edgerton, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Emmaline (Singer) Gumble.

Jeanne moved to Pennsylvania to help manage her family resort, Nemanie Lodge on Lake Wallenpaupack in the Pocono Mountains. She and her husband Dan assumed the management of the resort after WWII, and raised their family until their retirement. She was a member of the Paupack Methodist church. Jeanne and Dan moved to Mechanicsburg in May of 2002.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Daniel R. "Bob" Eckes. Surviving are her two children, Van Paul and wife Lynda Eckes of Philadelphia and Toms River, NJ and her daughter Jodi Whitmoyer of New Bloomfield; two granddaughters, Jessica Whitmoyer of Bristow, VA and Elena Henley of Burlington, VT.

At Jeanne's request the service will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation "Trees in Memory" 211 N. 12th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508.
