Arthur L. Cannon, Jr., 66, of Dothan passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Littlefield officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Cannon was born November 19, 1946 in Marion County, FL and moved to Cottonwood, AL at an early age. He was a resident of Houston County the remainder of his life. He was a 1965 graduate of Cottonwood High School and was employed with Colonial Bread Co. for a short time. He later owned and operated Cannon's Texaco for several years as well as C&H Salvage. He was later employed with Allied Fencing and F&F Fencing before starting his own fencing company which he ran until 2008. Mr. Cannon was an avid fisherman and Alabama Roll Tide Football fan and a member of Memphis Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Josephine Cannon; a grandson Andrew Salter, and a sister Virginia Crenshaw.

Survivors include his wife Janice Cannon; a son Barry Lewis Cannon; daughters, Michelle Shipes (Bo) and Stacie Keating (Teet); grandchildren; Shealee Grubbs (Wesley), Alexis Varner, and Blake Cannon; great-grandchildren, Westin and Gavin Grubbs; a brother David Cannon (Rose); sisters, Vivian Stewart, Donna Thornton (Gary), and Jeanne Walding; a brother-in-law Dewayne Deese (Pam); sisters-in-law, Becky Thompson (Paul) and Elaine Mauldin; several nieces and nephews.
