Judd Brown, 59, Dies After Long Illness
Prominent Mankato businessman Judd Brown, 59, of 122 Crocus Place died at 6:30 this morning [Aug 11, 1961] at St. Joseph's hospital.
He had been suffering from cancer about two years. He was admitted to the hospital on June 4.
Mr. Brown was born in Jamestown township, Blue Earth County, on Feb 5, 1902. He has resided in Mankato the past 29 years.
He was president of Brown and Leguil, Inc.; a partner in Judd Brown Contruction company and Mankato Concrete Masonry company; president of Guarantee Loan and Thirft company, director of Certified Concrete Products of Albert Lea and former president of Judd Brown Motors.
For about 30 years, he was a director of the Peoples State bank of Madison Lake. He was former president of the Mankato Baseball association.
Mr. Brown was chairman of the Democratic Farmer Labor party in Blue Earth County for several years. He voted in the last national democratic convention.
He was a member of the Minnesota Bituminous association, Associate General Contractors of Minnesota, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Loyal Order of Moose and Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles of Mankato, one daughter, Mrs. Jack Hunziker of Manakto; 12 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Nick Traxler of North Mankato.
Funeral services will be at St. John's Catholic church with burial at Madison Lake. Mankato Free Press 8/12/1961
