Clair F. Henry was born on March 1, 1893 in Jewell County, Kansas south of Hardy, Nebraska, the son of Elmer C. and Mary Alice (Ulsh) Henry. He died on Tuesday, February 1, 1983 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska where he has resided since 1976 at the age of 89.

Clair was a Veteran of World War I, he served in France with the Yankee Division and was in the battles of St. Mihiel, Meuse, Argonne and Verdun.

Clair and Hazel Scott were united in marriage October 15, 1919. They farmed south of Hardy in Jewell County for many years before retiring into Hardy. Hazel preceded Clair in death on June 19, 1972 after 52 years of marriage.

Clair had been a lifelong resident of Hardy, was a member of the Union Church, a former member of the Hardy Fire Department and the Hardy Community Club. He was a charter member of the Hardy American Legion & Nuckolls County World War I Barracks.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Virginia in 1921, a brother Ernest, and a sister Mrs. Nina Train.

He is survived by a sister Mrs. James A. "Hazel" Rhoads and a brother and sister-in-law Hubert and Katherine Henry all of Hardy, and a brother-in-law Joe Train of Superior. Other relatives and friends.
