Judy Elizabeth Hylton, 71, of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away October 7, 2013, after battling a severe illness for several months She was born November 14, 1941, in Knoxville, Tennessee, the daughter of Leon and Delores Golden.

Judy graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1959 and attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. On June 3, 1961, she married James Hylton and they have lived in Clinton since 1967. Jim and Judy were members of the First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Judy graduated from the University of Tennessee and then from Lincoln Memorial University with an MS in education. She was a longtime librarian and assistant principal at Clinton Middle School and had retired several years ago.

She was active in her church, community and civic affairs while her health still permitted. She also enjoyed working with the Oak Ridge Playhouse and was involved in several productions over the years. After retirement she enjoyed crafts and scrap booking, especially about her grandchildren . She enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends, children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband James Hylton of Clinton; her mother Delores Golden of Clinton, and two children Mike Hylton and wife Amy of Oak Ridge and Jeff Hylton and wife Christa of Brooklyn, New York, , and three grandchildren, Noah Hylton and Patty Hylton of Oak Ridge, and George Hylton of Brooklyn, and several cousins and extended family in the Clinton area. She was preceded in death by her son Gary and her father Leon.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, October 11, 2013 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Stan Elliott and Rev. Terry Baker officiating. Her graveside will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday at the Woodhaven Memorial Garden. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. holleygamblefh.com
