Obituary - ESCALANTE: Randel Wilcock Lyman, 85, of Escalante, Utah died July 8, 1996 in a Delano, California nursing home. His wife and family attended to many of his day to day needs.

He was born September 29, 1910 in Escalante, Utah, to Vern and Mary Melvina Wilcock Lyman. As a young cowboy he courted and secretly married his lifetime Sweetheart, Gwen Hickman, daughter of Eugene Hickman and Dicy Davis Hickman.

They are the parents of six married children: Richard (Dick) and Mary Lyman, Bountiful/Escalante; Deanna and Jim Greer, Tremonton/Springfield, Missouri Mission; Rosemary and Merrill Brindley, Salem, Utah; Joyce and Milton Woolsey, Delano, California; Blaine M. and Candy M. Lyman, Seymour, Missouri; Evelyn and Jim Corning, Tucson, Arizona; 37 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Orabell Weigel, Bountiful; Vida Harrison, Twin Falls, Idaho.

Randel Lyman was a versatile businessman, farmer and construction worker. He owned and operated Lyman Lumber Company, Escalante Telephone Company, and the Padre Motel. He was an active member of the LDS Church.

Preceded in death by: parents, sister, Millie McInelly, son-in-law, Reldon Palmer, three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12, 1996 at 1 p.m. in the Escalante 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call on Friday morning from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah.
