Daniel Miller Adams February 27, 1914 - May 8, 2011

A graveside service for Daniel Miller Adams, 97, of New Orleans, formerly of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday May 17, 2011 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Belt officiating. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.

He died May 8, 2011 at his home in New Orleans, Louisiana with his family present. He was born February 27, 1914 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William A. and Daisy L. (Mehaffey) Adams.

Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, of 63 years, who he dearly cherished, Ruth Bachman Adams; his parents; and his 14 siblings.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his daughter, Susan Adams (John) Prickett; his granddaughter, Robin (Steven) Gall; his step-grandson, Patrick (Julie) Prickett; many nieces and nephews; Adrianne & Harold Whitaker and the extended Jones family and many friends. His education at Franklin and Marshall College at Lancaster, PA, was cut short by WWII. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre.

In 1947, Mr. And Mrs. Adams moved to Newark as he began his 30 year career with the Hamilton Watch Company. He continued to be active in the retail jewelry business for many years thereafter. They lived in Newark until 2002 when they moved to the Greater New Orleans, Louisiana area to be near their daughter. Mr. Adams remained there until Hurricane Katrina (August 2005) when he relocated to Napoleonville, Louisiana.

Daniel was an avid golfer and gardener, known for his gladiolas, lima beans, tomatoes and his perfect lawn. He was a member of Heath United Methodist Church, VFW Post #3761 of Baltimore,OH, Elks Lodge #391 of Newark, and Lodge #43 F&AM of Lancaster, PA. Memorial contributions in Daniel's name and memory may be made to the , P.O. Box 96011, Washington,D.C. 20090-6011, or a charity of the donor's choice.
