MRS. MATTIE BAXTER
Funeral services for Mattie Whittaker Baxter, 77, Reliance, were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Paul Andrews of the Third Ward officiated. Burial was in the Ogden City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Pallbearers were James Kelly, Dennis McMillan, Ben Schultz, Rulon Garner, Curt Simpkins and Ivan Woodburn.
Mrs. Baxter died Saturday, Dec. 1, at Kimberly Manor Nursing Home.
She was born March 5, 1896 in Schuly Hill, Pa. She was married to George Dewey Baxter in Brigham City, Utah on Aug. 14, 1917.
Mrs. Baxter had been a resident of this area for approximately 50 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R.J. (Afton) McMillan, Rock Springs; one sister, Mrs. Rulon (Laureen) Garner, Brigham City, Utah; two brothers, Esdras Whittaker, Boise, Ida., and Hyrum Whittaker, Ogden, Utah; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Baxter was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Lois.
