Mrs. Eleanor M. (Sal) Simon, 77, of 438 S. 31st Street, Manitowoc, died Friday evening, June 3, 1988 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 9:30 am Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Whitson and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Eleanor Margaret Waniger was born March 20, 1911 in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, Manitowoc county, daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Brunner Wanniger. She married Isadore (Izzy) Simon on June 1, 1929 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1975. For 26 years she operated the former Jig-Saw Bar in Manitowoc, retiring in 1969.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and James Wilda of Manitowoc, Mary Ann and William Kraemer of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Amy, Becky, Scott and Karen; a great granddaughter, Mollie; three brothers, Edward Waniger of Howards Grove, Arthur Waniger of St. Nazianz and Adrian Waniger of Stratford, Wisconsin; a sister, Mrs. Mary Wolf of Des Plaines, Illinois; and a special friend, Clarence (Bud) Leonhard of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 5 pm to 8 pm Monday where a prayer service will be at 7 pm by Deacon Bill Klein.
