Lee Harry Eckhardt, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Monday, September 23, at the age of 80. Mr. Eckhardt is survived by his wife Marie Eckhardt of Fredericksburg, three children, Brenda Segner and husband Dennis J. of Fredericksburg, Keven Eckhardt of Fredericksburg and Robert Eckhardt of New York, New York, four grandchildren Craig Segner and wife Kay Lynn, Scott Segner and wife Sage, Kyle Segner and wife Nicole and Otto Segner, a brother James Eckhardt and wife Bonnie of Fredericksburg, two nephews Bryan and Kyle Eckhardt and a niece Kim Theriot. Lee Harry was born in Fredercksburg on January 19, 1933 to Harry Eckhardt and Elfrieda Braeutigam Eckhardt. He was a life-long member of Bethany Lutheran church and a graduate of Fredericksburg High School. On October 17, 1954, Lee Harry married Marie Jordan in Bethany Lutheran Church and they made their home in Fredericksburg. From 1956 to 1958 he served in the U.S. Army. After serving in the armed forces Lee Harry returned to Fredericksburg where he farmed and ranched and was co-manager of Farmers Grain Co-op Inc. He was a co-founder of the Young Farmers Association and the Hill Country Fruit Growers Association. Lee Harry was honored with the Outstanding Young Farmer award more than once. He served on the Bethany Lutheran Church Council and sang in the Men's Choir. He was also a member and co-founder of the Cave Creek Wildlife Association. Lee Harry loved deer and dove hunting, fishing and visiting with his friends. In later years he enjoyed going to the stock tank, feeding the fish, fishing and just enjoying the outdoors. He got great pleasure seeing his grandchildren and their friends fish and show off their catch to him. Funeral services for Lee Harry Eckhardt will be held on Friday, September 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beckmann Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Eckhardt, Michael Schmidt, Craig Segner, Scott Segner, Kyle Segner and Otto Segner. Memorials in honor of Mr. Eckhardt may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Bethany Lutheran Church, or the Tori Eckhardt Scholarship Fund.
