Mrs. J. Calvin Hollenbaugh, born, March 16, 1855, Perry county, Ickesburg, PA - died October 31, 1931, Dauphin county, Hummelstown, PA.
Mrs. Alice Swartz Hollenbaugh, widow of J. Calvin Hollenbaugh, a former resident of this county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Welshans, in Hummelstown, on Saturday, aged 76 years, death being due to the infirmities of old age.
Mrs. Hollenbaugh was a daughter of George and Mary (Bernheisel) Swartz, and was born at Ickesburg, her parents later moving to the farm now owned by Turbett Dromgold, at the west end of Bloomfield, where the family resided for many years. Sometime after her marriage to Mr. Hollenbaugh they took up their residence in Lancaster county.
In addition to Mrs. Welshans, she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Herman J. Schell, Latrobe; C. Roy Hollenbaugh, Latrobe; Meredith Hollenbaugh, Palmyra; Mrs. Maude S. Hoy, Naksup, British Columbia; Isaac F. Hollenbaugh, Los Angeles, and Joseph G. Hollenbaugh, Greensburg.
She is survived also by twenty-two grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie McLaughlin, of Kentucky, and Mrs. Elizabeth Brothers, Philadelphia, and a brother, W. F. Swartz, Bloomfield.
Mrs. Hollenbaugh was a member of the Bloomfield Reformed Church, and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at the Welshans home in Hummelstown on Monday evening and burial was in the Bloomfield cemetery Tuesday morning.
