Margery Duarte
Sep. 7, 1927 - Sep. 10, 2013
Margery Duarte, 86, a 60-year resident of Placerville passed away on Sept. 10, 2013. She graduated high school and worked more than 20 years at the Placerville Fruit House. She married Arthur "Bud" Manual Duarte on Dec. 11, 1965. Bud passed away Feb. 19, 1989, and Marge never remarried. She leaves behind two daughters.
Marge's greatest joy came in spending time with her ever-growing family of five generations. Whether family or friend you could count on Grandma's shoulder to lean on or her hand to hold. Following in God's word you can guarantee Grandma took those stairs to heaven. She is now our angel forever by our sides.
Marge's service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20 for friends and family at Westwood Hills Memorial Park. She will then be buried alongside Arthur "Bud" Duarte. Grandma and Grandpa will be together forever.
Per Bill Payne: Marge was born in Park County, Montana to William A. and Olive Karnes. She attended a one-room country grade school at Emigrant, MT and graduated from Park County High School in Livingston, MT. Marge was the last of the Karnes family siblings, which included sisters Hazel and Doris and brothers Albert, Keith, Harold and Jim. She was a woman of wisdom, courage, kindness, humor and always had a great smile. She was devoted to her family and was loved by all. In the 1960's she donated a kidney to her brother Keith in the early stages of the Denver kidney transplant program.
