Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at New Town Free Will Baptist Church with burial in Lake City Memorial Park, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM tonight (Tuesday) at the funeral home.
Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Hampton W. Thornhill and Ethalee McClam Thornhill. He was retired from La-Z-Boy after 31 years, and was a member of New Town Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Odell Thornhill.
Surviving are his wife, Christine Miles Thornhill of Lake City; a daughter, Elaine (Nelson) Lee of Scranton; a son, John Wesley "Johnny" Thornhill, Jr. of Florence; three sisters, Shirley Ann (J.W.) Cooksey of Tallahassee, Fl. , Martha Jean Prosser of Santee and Marie (Bill) Luttrell of Moncks Corner; a step-daughter, Sandra McAllister of Lake City; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Shirley Thornhill; several nieces and nephews; special friends; Lynn and Tommy Avant. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Tri County Hospice.
