Father of Local Residents Dies

Ira A. Black, 72, of Arcola, father of Mrs. James Lucas and Mrs. Margaret Webb, both of Mattoon, died at 6 a.m. today at his home. He had been in failing health for several months.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Shrader funeral home, Arcola. Rev. Carl Rothe will officiate. Burial will be in Arcola cemetery. Friends may call Saturday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Black was born on July 16, 1884, in Wayne Co. to John and Serrepta Black. He married Clarabell Price who preceded him in death on May 18, 1928. On April 23, 1932, he married Nellie Walley. He retired from the Arcola Lumber Co. in 1950.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Elmer of Champaign; his daughters, here; eight step-children; brothers, Luther of Springfield, Ray of Arcola and Ralph of Harvey; sisters, Mrs. William Warner of Arcola, Mrs. Lena East of Arcola and Mrs. Ethel Ehrhart of Champaign; and several grandchildren.
