Former Local Resident Dies
ARCOLA, Ill. -- Ralph Black, 75, of Tuscola, formerly of Mattoon, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday in Veterans Hospital in Danville where he had been a patient one week.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Shrader Funeral Home in Arcola with Rev. John Danford officiating. Burial will be in Arcola Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Black was born Aug. 28, 1893, in Arcola, the son of John and Serepta Black. He married Edith Louthan June 7, 1920, in Urbana.
He is survived by his widow; one son, Paul of Dolton; one daughter, Mrs. Norma Folta of Chicago Heights; two sisters, Mrs. Lena East of Charleston and Mrs. Grace Warner of Arcola; and seven grandchildren. Five brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Black lived in Arcola until 1925 when he moved to Mattoon. He left Mattoon in 1941 and lived in Harvey until he retired to Tuscola in 1959. He was a veteran of World War I.
