Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Gail Ashton Parker, 93, of Tooele passed away peacefully in his home on Sept. 9 from cancer. Gail was born May 29, 1920 to William Charles Parker and Mary Ann Phelps Parker in Montpelier, Idaho, the youngest of six children. During World War II he served in the Navy Air Corps in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He served as a member of the military honor guard for the founding of the United Nations. Gail married Virginia Morris in 1941. The couple had two children, Wayne and Diane. Virginia died in a car accident in 1948. He married Arliene Bailey in 1950. They had a daughter, Charlynn. Gail worked for Utah Power and Light Co. as a lineman and later as Tooele District Manager. He was actively involved in community affairs, serving as president of the Tooele Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and Tooele County United Way. He served on the Utah State Military Commanders Council, Utah United Way Board of Directors, Vice-President of the Tooele Medical Clinic Board of Directors, and was appointed and later elected as a Tooele City Councilman. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, and daughter, Diane. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Arliene, children Wayne (Linda) of Sandy, Charlynn (Howard) of Cedar Fort, 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. A private family memorial was held on Sept. 14 at Tate Mortuary followed by interment in the Murray City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Tawnya Bowles and CNS Hospice for their tender care.
